i'm not sure what to post so i'll just ask this:
do you think its better to prepare your children for how bad the world can be by giving them tough love or to just be as loving and caring as you possibly can in order to make them a happy person or in hope that they will have a happy life?
I think there has to be a happy medium between the two. Sometimes life can be hard, but if tough love is the only parenting technique you use, it could probably have some negative effects. However, you could say the same for sheltering kids too much. I think parents should prepare kids for whatever life brings them, but do it in a loving way. Usually going somewhere in the middle has the best result rather than extremes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sarah. If you're too harsh, the kid might grow up to be bitter and resentful of you. If you don't prepare the kid for how cruel life can be, the same can happen once the kid realizes this for himself and recognizes that you set him up for failure.
