heroism
I comes in many forms and many go over looked or unnoticed most people like to think of themselves as a form of hero or at least like to relate themselves to the hero. But i think the reason most heroism goes unnoticed is because if your not the hero or if you aren't on the same side as the hero you could see the act of heroism as an act of vandilism or possibly just annoyance. Just because we don't agree with the reason doesn't mean they aren't a hero of some sorts. What if a single father became homeless and had to steal food for is children to eat, if he were to be arrested the cops wouldn't give two shits why he stole they would arrest him and maybe even lock him up, but to his children he was a true hero. Maybe i'm just rambling but take it how you will.

I think that you make a good point about how we have to view people who we may believe to be antiheroes. Without knowing the full extent of their lives, we do not know whether or not their actions are heroic to someone else. For example, in Slaughterhouse Five, Weary seems like an antihero. He even goes so far as to beat up Billy. However, we have to realize that before this he was the biggest reason for keeping Billy alive, and this action he preforms is an act of heroism we would not expect to see.
